"I just wanted to reach out and thank you for the First-Aid Trauma kits that have been donated to the Volusia Sheriff’s Office. We received a person shot call in Orange City. As multiple Deputies and I arrived on scene I was able to quickly grab and utilize the trauma kit to assist my Sergeant in treating and stabilizing the gunshot victim. The victim survived his injuries and later in the day we as an agency were able to apprehend the subject responsible for the shooting. This Trauma kit has shown to be very useful on multiple occasions whether we have needed to use it or not. It is one of the first things I grab when exiting my patrol vehicle on priority calls where first aid is needed. I just wanted to express my gratitude for the kits we have received. They really make a difference."

"One of our deputies used their med kit recently. Some teens (17 years old) were playing with a gun, and one accidentally shot another one so they used their equipment from the kit to patch the kid up."

"A DV situation turned into the suspect getting about a 2" laceration with venous bleeding. There was already about a liter and a half of blood on the bathroom floor when I arrived. Another officer arrived prior to me and applied a tourniquet from their medkit. I brought my medkit and used both S-rolled gauze to continue to stop the bleeding while the tourniquet started doing its job. Minus low hemoglobin, the suspect survived.

We are grateful for the medkits provided and without them Fire/EVAC would have had a much more messy and dire situation to deal with."
